Notifications and settings

OneMind Notifications tracks incoming review requests, approval decisions, and sync results. Settings has six sections — Account, Preferences, Notifications, Team, Billing, and Storage — and opens from the account menu (click your name at the bottom of the side drawer) as a window over the page you are on.

Notifications

Notification is a dedicated inbox that lists incoming review requests, decisions, and operation results. Open it from the side drawer. The inbox opens on the Unread filter by default, showing a count of unread items. Use the filter selector at the top of the list to switch between views:

FilterWhat it shows
AllEvery notification
UnreadUnread items only; the selector shows a live count
ApprovalsReview requests and approval decisions
ChangesProject changes and restored Minds or Projects
SyncSuccessful syncs and file updates
TeamNew team members and AI tools found on your Macs
SystemFailures and Safe Check issues

Select any item to open its detail in the right pane (split mode) or an overlay panel (panel mode). The boundary between the list and detail panes is draggable. Opening a notification marks it as read automatically; if the receipt fails, a retry control appears in the list.

Use Load older at the bottom of the list to fetch earlier notifications. Use Refresh to reload the current view.

Each notification shows a relative timestamp (just now, minutes ago, hours ago, days ago). The detail pane contains a collapsible Technical evidence section with raw identifiers and hashes for debugging.

On macOS, new inbox items trigger a Notification Center item (list style, not a banner). Clicking it brings the app to the front and opens the relevant notification. See System notifications on The macOS app page for how to enable this.

Act on notifications

Some notifications let you act directly in the inbox; others link to a different page.

Act directly in the inbox:

NotificationWho can actActions
Mind pull request submittedAdministratorsApprove and publish or Reject; a conflict indicator blocks Approve and publish when a blocker conflict exists
Mind deletion requestedAdministratorsApprove deletion or Deny deletion
Mind project-change requestedAdministratorsApprove or Deny
Project update requestedAdministratorsApprove update or Reject update
Project deletion requestedAdministratorsApprove or Reject; a recovery option appears after approval
Matrix follow-up permission requestOwner of the requested AI toolApprove, Allow for this task, or Decline
Matrix task assignment requestedOwner of the requested AI toolApprove or Decline
Auto-generate Minds proposalAnyone who receives the proposalApprove or Reject; the detail pane shows the proposal text, confidence percentage, and rationale
Recover a backup (admin)AdministratorsRecover action in the detail pane

Approve and Reject buttons appear only while the item is pending. Once a decision is recorded, the buttons disappear.

Links to another page:

  • Tool permission requests and relayed AI-tool questions — the detail pane shows Open in Matrix; select it to respond via the task's authoritative interaction card in Matrix. The inbox shows only an excerpt and cannot collect an answer.
  • Run interrupted — sent to the owner of the AI tool when a Matrix run stops because its Mac stopped reporting: the Mac slept, onemind quit, or the connection dropped. The detail pane shows Open in Matrix. On the task, the run shows Resume; it continues the same tool session on the same Mac, which first checks what was already done. A run that failed before it started can be resumed the same way, and it runs its own instruction again. Nothing resumes on its own.
  • Pull request update — sent to a task's creator when a pull request one of its runs opened has settled: its checks failed or all passed, a review approved it or asked for changes, or it was merged or closed. Running checks never notify. The detail pane links to the pull request and shows Open in Matrix.
  • New AI tool found — sent only to you when one of your Macs finds supported AI tools that aren't connected. On that Mac the detail pane shows Connect, which opens Add AI agent on the Team page; on other devices it names the Mac to open.
  • Project file update notifications (requested, decided, applied, recovery required) — the detail pane contains a link to the file review page.

Settings tabs

Settings opens as a window over the page you are on, which stays as you left it. Its six sections scroll continuously and are reachable by anchor or scroll; the left navigation highlights the current section as you scroll. Close it with the close button, Esc, or a click outside the window. On a phone it fills the screen and closes with Back.

Preferences section

  • Automation mode — controls how onemind connects AI tools and syncs approved Minds. See Automation mode below.
  • UI language — a tab-style switcher with five options: English, Simplified Chinese, Traditional Chinese, Japanese, and Korean. Takes effect immediately.
  • Display mode — a tab-style switcher: Auto (follows your OS preference), Light, or Dark.
  • Sounds — a short sound when an AI tool needs you, a task you started finishes or fails, or something new arrives in Inbox. Sounds play only while onemind is the active window; in the background the system notification sound covers it. On by default. In the macOS app they also stay off while macOS interface sound effects are off (System Settings › Sound).
  • Sound when a message is sent — a quiet tick when your Matrix message is sent. Off by default.
  • Share AI sessions — one On/Off switch for every AI tool you connected. While it is on, your Team sees the Project sessions of your connected AI tools in Matrix. Turning it off removes the sessions you already shared.
  • Run tasks in their own worktree — off by default. When it is on and a Matrix task runs on your Mac in a Git repository, onemind gives the task its own worktree in ~/OneMind Worktrees on a branch named onemind/<task>, and later runs of the task reuse it. Your own checkout stays as it is, and the task's log names the worktree and branch. onemind never deletes a worktree; remove it with git worktree remove once the work is merged.
  • Tasks at once on each Mac — 1 to 4, 1 by default: how many Matrix tasks one of your Macs runs at the same time. With worktrees off, tasks in the same Project still take turns so they never share a folder.

Notifications section

The System notifications switch controls whether onemind can send OS or browser notifications. It is Off by default. Turning it on requests notification permission from macOS or your browser at that moment. The switch also shows Blocked when permission was denied by the OS or browser, or Unavailable when the platform does not support notifications.

Five categories can each be set to On or Off. These settings are saved on this device only and filter which OS or browser notifications you receive:

CategoryCovers
ApprovalsReview requests and decisions
SyncSuccessful syncs and file updates
ChangesProject changes and restored Minds or Projects
TeamNew team members and AI tools found on your Macs
SystemFailures and Safe Check issues

Settings navigation actions

At the bottom of the Settings navigation area:

  • Check for updates card — checks for a newer version of onemind for Mac. When a version is ready to install, the card reads Update available with the version number and opens the update window. Shown in the macOS app only.
  • Watch intro film card — plays the onemind intro film again. The card shows a moving preview and the film's length.
  • Switch Matrix — lets you switch between Matrix teams without signing out. Shown when your account has team memberships.
  • Sign out (the power button) — opens a confirmation dialog ("Sign out of onemind?"). Click Sign out to confirm or Cancel to stay signed in. If sign-out fails, the error message "onemind could not sign you out. Try again." appears and you remain signed in.

When a session expires, sign in again. A failed request or unavailable server must not be treated as success. Saved Mind drafts remain device-local until submission. For help, see Support.

Automation mode

Automation mode in Settings > Preferences controls how onemind connects AI tools and syncs Minds. Three options are available:

ModeBehavior
ManualYou generate Minds, choose AI tools, approve changes, and sync when you are ready.
ManumaticYou choose which AI tools connect. onemind syncs approved Minds to them automatically.
Automaticonemind connects supported AI tools and syncs approved Minds to them automatically.

The default mode is Manual. Only administrators can choose Automatic. Changes take effect immediately and persist across sessions. Manumatic and Automatic also allow Mind generation, which sends selected skills and AI work history to an AI provider. On the browser, a notice prompts you to open the macOS app to apply the setting to local AI tools.
