CLI quick start

Install and activate the onemind CLI to sync reviewed team memory to your AI tools from macOS or Linux.

For the CLI, a detected repository is not active until you explicitly bind its exact target to an ordinary Project in the setup flow. Complete that activation before onemind sync; detection alone grants no write or upload permission. Native BETA users instead follow Projects and folders, which prepares compatible connected targets and leaves uploads disabled.

If you use onemind from a macOS or Linux terminal, follow this page from top to bottom:

  1. Run the CLI-only installer. It installs and verifies the CLI, signed integration bundle, installation binding, and background service. On macOS it does not download, replace, configure, or open either OneMind.app or OneMind BETA.app, and it does not change AI-host plugins.
  2. Run onemind from your repository and select Sign in.
  3. Open your AI tool's guide and follow its connection steps.
  4. Run onemind sync.
  5. Run onemind status, then start a new session in your AI tool.

Supported Systems

The BETA 0.4.15 release contract includes native CLI builds for:

Operating systemArchitectures
macOSarm64, amd64
Linuxarm64, amd64

Windows implementation remains experimental/source-only. It has manual native AMD64 and ARM64 test coverage, but no public signed archive or installer and no BETA support commitment. Do not use the unpublished PowerShell installer as a BETA distribution path.

The CLI needs a terminal, network access to your onemind server, and working operating-system credential storage. Linux background use requires a usable Secret Service/keyring and systemd --user.

Install

The official installer downloads the latest release, verifies its SHA-256 checksum and version, installs the binary, and registers the background service. Running it again safely repairs the current version or installs a newer one.

The public CLI Quick Start command is CLI-only. On macOS it does not download, replace, configure, or open either OneMind.app or OneMind BETA.app; it installs only the CLI release components described below. Intel Macs also receive the CLI only because an Intel menu-bar app is not currently published.

macOS And Linux

Run:

curl -fsSL https://onemind.team/downloads/install-onemind.sh | ONEMIND_INSTALL_APP=0 sh

This CLI-only command separately downloads and stores the signed public integration bundle and checks its exact bytes and tagged GitHub release workflow. A clean install temporarily downloads the exact official Cosign v2.6.2 binary for the machine, accepts HTTPS redirects only to reviewed GitHub release hosts, and checks its embedded size and SHA-256 before execution. The temporary verifier is deleted when the installer exits, and Unix installation does not require Python. The installer then authenticates the canonical release candidate before trusting its asset inventory or executing any candidate-derived binary. It installs the CLI, bundle, installation binding, and background service without downloading, replacing, configuring, or opening either OneMind.app or OneMind BETA.app. It also never installs, updates, repairs, or removes Codex or another AI-host plugin. Host changes require an explicit onemind integrations install, update, repair, or uninstall command. The fail-closed bundle path is the same on Apple-silicon and Intel macOS and Linux; it never trusts an app-embedded copy and does not require a separate Cosign installation. Upgrades prefer the previously installed verifier for the integration bundle.

macOS App

BETA 0.4.15 publishes OneMind BETA.app for Apple-silicon Macs with bundle ID com.onemind.beta. Its DMG and update ZIP are authenticated by the signed Singapore production receipt; the app itself uses an ad-hoc signature and is not notarized because this release uses no Apple account. The first open may require Control-clicking the app, choosing Open, and confirming macOS's warning. The BETA app has its own Keychain session and does not replace an installed Alpha OneMind.app. ONEMIND_INSTALL_APP=0 remains the CLI-only installer path. The legacy ONEMIND_INSTALL_CODEX_PLUGIN variable remains rejected, and the installer never mutates host plugins without an explicit integration action.

To install the CLI and the separate BETA app together on an Apple-silicon Mac, run:

curl -fsSL https://onemind.team/downloads/install-onemind.sh | ONEMIND_INSTALL_APP=1 sh

The default install location is ~/.local/bin/onemind. If the installer says the directory is not on your PATH, add it to your shell configuration and open a new terminal. For zsh:

echo 'export PATH="$HOME/.local/bin:$PATH"' >> ~/.zshrc
source ~/.zshrc

Confirm The Installation

onemind version

Expected output:

onemind 0.4.15

The exact version number depends on the installed release.

Codex Plugin

The onemind installer does not install or update the Codex plugin. After installing onemind, run the passive onemind integrations list --json, review Codex's reported state, and explicitly run onemind integrations install codex, update codex, or repair codex only when needed. Installation does not authenticate Codex to your onemind account.

onemind integrations install codex installs only the bundled onemind-app marketplace and Codex plugin. This scoped action does not install or repair the CLI, replace the macOS app, restart the service, or open an app. Use CLI Quick Start for the CLI components; use its separately labeled full-app opt-in only when you explicitly want the macOS app.

Start a new Codex task and mention @OneMind. On first use, select Connect onemind, sign in on the onemind website, review the requested OAuth permissions, and approve the connection. Only then is Codex connected and able to use cloud status, approved memory, and sync requests; local CLI updates and service controls still require the CLI on that device.

First Run And Sign In

Start onemind from the repository you want to connect:

cd /path/to/your/repository
onemind

When signed out, the palette shows Sign in and Check for updates.

  1. Select Sign in and press Enter.
  2. onemind opens its authorization page in your browser.
  3. Sign in on the website and approve the requesting terminal.
  4. Return to the terminal. onemind stores the session in your operating system's credential store and reports the authorized account and device.
  5. Press Escape to return to the command palette.

The browser request expires if it is not completed in time. Select Sign in again to create a fresh request. Your password is never entered into the CLI.

After signing in, detect the current directory as a Project target for your AI tool. For Codex:

onemind project codex /path/to/your/repository

onemind prints a confirmation and marks the target as inactive. Complete Sync Setup in the onemind BETA app or web to bind the detected directory to an ordinary Project. Once bound, run onemind sync. Detection alone does not grant write or upload permission; onemind sync prints an error until Sync Setup is complete. See your AI tool's guide under AI tool guides for tool-specific detection commands.

For the macOS menu bar, see The macOS app.

If running onemind on macOS produces "OneMind is running in Terminal, but the menu-bar app is not installed. Re-run the official installer to add it.", the installer did not install the macOS app alongside the CLI. Either use the ONEMIND_INSTALL_APP=1 installer command above or ignore the message; it does not affect CLI sync.
